“blumenspiel” tin flowers designed by RaR, consists of five flowers made in pewter.
RaR (Beate Reinheimer & Ulrike Rehm, well known by their Schwarm beetles) translated five images by graphic designer Frits Kredel (1900) from “Das Kleine Blumenbuch” into three-dimensional work. The poppy, cornflower, Solomon’s seal, March violet and coltsfoot are transformed into elongated and flat shapes and seem to defy the rules of gravity. The front and back are accurately detailed, as if they came from a herbarium. The side is no more than a thin line. All flowers have different sizes and stand on a pedestal, referring to the former tin soldiers. As battles can be imitated with these soldiers, endless field bouquets can be created with these flowers. Once again RaR manages to combine history, nature and art into magical objects.
