The Moya bitch bark food containers by Anastasiya Koshcheeva are a mix of contemporary and traditional craft. i met anastasiya in 2016 and i was enchanted by her first products made out of birch bark.
with these food containers she kept an old siberian tradition alive. She is connecting the ancient Siberian handicraft from her homeland with clear contemporary design.

the bark is harvested once a year and is given a particular care to ensure that the inner layer of the bark is not damaged in the process, so the trees remain unharmed.
Naturally occurring substances in the bark ensure that the birch trees survive even the leanest nutrient conditions and the harshest weather and are fully renewable within 20–25 years.

therefor the food containers have versatile qualities such as durability, flexibility, tear strength, breathability, and are antibacterial.

.about anastasiya koshcheeva

the Siberian-born designer Anastasiya Koshcheeva lives now in berlin. there she founded her brand MOYA. This means “mine” in Russian. Since 2012, Anastasiya has been passionate about connecting the ancient Siberian handicraft from her homeland with clear contemporary design. Since the very beginning, it has been our aim to create birchbark products of the highest quality in a socially and environmentally responsible way. they source the birch bark from the endless Siberian taiga and let its natural beauty unravel to the fullest with the help of clear shapes, contrasting details, and playful colours. the products link the uniqueness of a natural material with the precision of modern technology. Unlike in traditional craftsmanship, these products are made from the naturally velvety front of the birch bark. in 2014 i noticed het first product; these food containers. i though it was just a great idea and excellent execution. The product range is still growing and the wall panels are also a huge succes.
